Systematic review of gestational diabetes and mental health sequelae amongst BAME women

Objective Determine the prevalence of mental health (MH) sequelae and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) amongst Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME). Design A systematic review protocol was developed and published on PROSPERO (CRD42020210863) as part of the evidence synthesis phase of the multimorbid ELEMI Project. Studies were identified through a systematic search methodology, developed using specific MeSH terms used within PubMed, Science direct, Web of Science and the Cochrane Library. All MH outcomes were included along- side studies that reported on GDM amongst BAME popu- lations. All included articles were peer-reviewed and published between 1st January 1995 and 30th September 2020. Method Studies included within the systematic review consisted of BAME women with GDM that demonstrated either patient and/or clinically reported MH outcomes. Some studies indicated that MH disorders were identified through medical records, screening tools or self-reporting methods. A 3-part data synthesis and analysis was utilised
