摘要 | Axial chirality, like any other type of chirality elements, could greatly influence recognition and interaction events in biochemistry and materials science. The axial stability of axially chiral drug candidates will determine their development strategies. Case studies are used to illustrate how modulation of rigidity, introduction, or removal of chiral axis will impact activity, selectivity, and druggability. It is also shown that the chiral environment offered by atropisomeric scaffolds allows their incorporation in chiral stationary phase, fluorescent sensors, and circular dichroism probes for chiral recognition. This chapter concludes with discussions on axially chiral photo- or redox-responsive dopants in cholesteric liquid crystals. |
