The authors regret for the errors that have been discovered in the manuscript and apologise for any inconvenience caused. The normalized radial relative velocities plotted in Figures 17, 18b, 22, 23, 24 and A1b have been mistakenly rescaled by a factor of 100. The correct label of the vertical axis in these figures should be <|wr11|>/vK, 1-way * 102. Consequently, the beginning of the penultimate paragraph in page 20 should read: Another important aspect worth addressing is the magnitude of the radial relative velocity. In simulations with gravity, at Φ~0.5, the RRV of 50 μm droplets is about 1.7 times larger than vK. It should be noted, however, that the vK used for normalization in Figs. 20, 22, 23 and 24 is related to the single-phase turbulent flow. As the mass loading increases the Kolmogorov velocity increases, so that the ratio of the RRV to the actual vK should be smaller (approximately 2 times). But even with this scaling, the normalized values of the RRV exceed 0.3 u’. Furthermore, the values of radial relative velocities the in Fig. 29 have been corrected. The modified Fig. 29 is presented below. Moreover, a minor editorial mistake has been noticed: in the third line below Eq. (4), the correct form of the symbol should be VET(x).
