A new design of second-order microwave differentiators has been proposed in this paper. It is based on a modified ladder network, where a series capacitor and a shunt inductance are used to realize the second-order transmission zeros at DC frequency. Besides, a traditional low-pass prototype network is synthesized using coupling matrix techniques, and is subsequently implemented using shunt-stub configurations by Richard Transformation. Numerical and experimental examples were provided to demonstrate the proposed method.
