摘要
Design of miniaturized wideband antennas is typically realized by introducing various geometrical modifications to the basic antenna topologies (e.g., monopoles or uniplanar structures). One of these modifications includes changing geometry of the feed line, either in a form of a taper or a stepped-impedance line. Here, systematic investigations on the effect of such modifications on obtainable size reduction ratio is carried out. We consider feed line modifications of various complexities (from two to six sections). In order to yield optimum designs, rigorous numerical optimization of relevant geometry parameters is executed. Numerical experiments are performed on two selected UWB monopoles and indicate advantage of the stepped-impedance feed line over the tapered one, as well as benefits of increasing the geometrical complexity of the line. At the same time, the results show the importance of simultaneous adjustment of all antenna parameters, necessary to exploit degrees of freedom of the feed line geometry.
