Mechanical properties of C-C bond nanostructures by the developed finite element method

摘要
SWCNT and graphene structure as two typical C-C bond nanostructures are extensively concerned based on the ABAQUS software. The developed FEM simulation method is adopted to simulate the mechanical behaviours of graphene structure. At atomic scale, the interatomic bonding forces of Van der Waals and the covalent chemical bond are both taken into account. The developed finite element method methodology is specially applied to study the tensional behaviour of carbon nanotubes and graphene, as their development has experienced strong growth in recent years thus can be used as the mechanical reinforcement materials. These carbon nanotubes can be formed by rolling graphene sheets. Development of the atomic FEM methodology can be traced back to determine their mechanical properties.
