Most old adults have mobility impairments because muscle weakness increases with age. Critically, stair ascent is one of the challenging tasks because the moments required at joints of the lower limb are significantly higher. In order to assist human anti-gravity movement, a soft wearable device with a tendon and pulleys system was designed. In this way, the device can support hip and knee extension simultaneously when the actuator is mounted on the upper body. Forces were measured by load cells at the lower limb, and the strategy was verified.
